ADA Compliance & Website Accessibility
An inaccessible website shuts out real people who want to use it, and invites legal trouble. We audit your site against the WCAG 2.2 standard, show you what's wrong, and fix it, so your site works for everyone and lowers your risk.
Why accessibility matters now
Roughly one in four US adults lives with a disability. When a site doesn't work with a screen reader, a keyboard, or larger text, those visitors can't read your content, fill out your forms, or buy from you, and most won't tell you. They just leave.
There's legal pressure too. Website accessibility lawsuits under the ADA are filed in large numbers every year, and plenty of them target small and mid-size businesses. And accessible sites tend to be better structured, which helps search engines understand them too.
What an accessibility audit covers
A WCAG 2.2 review
Against the AA success criteria that courts and settlements typically reference.
The common failures
The ones that cause most problems: missing image alt text, poor color contrast, keyboard traps, unlabeled forms, and content that screen readers can't follow.
A clear report
What's wrong, why it matters, and what it takes to fix, prioritized by severity.
We fix it, not just flag it
A report you can't act on isn't much help. We can take the findings and do the remediation, the actual code and content fixes, on your Shopify, WordPress, or custom-built site, and retest to confirm the issues are resolved. Javier Centeno does both the audit and the fixes, so nothing gets lost between the report and the code.
When we're done, you have a record of what was found, what was fixed, and when. It isn't a legal guarantee, and we're not lawyers, but it shows your visitors, and anyone who asks, that you're making a real, ongoing effort.
If a fuller rebuild makes more sense than patching, see website redesign.
Where accessibility widgets fit
An accessibility toolbar, like the one on this site, can be a useful extra layer, giving visitors options like larger text, more spacing, or higher contrast. What no widget can do is fix the code underneath or make a site compliant on its own. So we fix the code first, and add a toolbar when it helps your visitors.
Accessibility questions people ask
What does an ADA/WCAG audit include?
A review of your site against WCAG 2.2 AA, the standard courts typically reference, covering the common failures like missing alt text, low color contrast, keyboard access, and unlabeled forms. You get a clear, prioritized report of what's wrong and what it takes to fix.
Is my website legally required to be accessible?
The ADA has been applied to business websites, and accessibility lawsuits are common, so most US businesses have real exposure. We're developers, not lawyers, so we don't give legal advice, but we can make your site meet the WCAG standard those cases reference.
Do you fix the issues, or just report them?
Both. We can hand you a report to act on, or do the remediation ourselves, the actual code and content fixes on Shopify, WordPress, or a custom-built site, and retest to confirm each issue is resolved.
Does accessibility help SEO?
Often, yes. Many accessibility practices (clear structure, descriptive alt text, proper labels, readable contrast) also make a site easier for search engines to understand, so accessibility and SEO tend to pull in the same direction.
